A Swarm in December?
I got a call from the Carpinteria Sanitary District today. A small football sized swarm landed under their picnic bench.
The hives are overwintering in Carpinteria
500 hives are here from Sacramento hoping for warmer weather to get ready for Almonds.
The short 8 frame hive at its new home
This hive looks so good in its new home. The hive is much lighter and easy to deal with.
Invitation to Save the Bees
Tuesday November 22nd at 5:30 pm we are presenting the story below by David Chamlee.
We are informing the school district that there are other options instead of killing the bees that will still protect the children.
If you are unable to make it but would still like to let the board know you support our effort to save the bees please let me know by providing your name. If you would also be willing to save the bees if they are on school district property also provide your phone number.

End of the Season Cleanup
Time to clean up all the hives that I have collected over the year. Burning the wax is better than throwing it away incase there is any diseases that can spread to other bees.
Baseball Swarm
Some swarms are better to just leave alone.
Trying short 8 frame hive
Mann Lake deep with shallow on top and copper roof.
Cut out in a roof
It is best to remove the bees as soon as they move in, because the longer they are in the walls, the more bees will need to be removed.
Bait Out
Bait out in an Oak Tree
Swarm
I love having bait boxes around the property
